The Cordeel barbecue embodied a delightful summer evening, brimming with warmth, scrumptious food, and achievements!

Beachclub Perry's at Brouwersdam in Scharendijke hosted our annual summer barbecue for the sixth year in a row. Employees gathered to celebrate the start of the construction holidays by catching up and enjoying some delicious food.

Early engineering team involvement leads to perfectly customised commercial storage units for Uparq

Uparq, a Dutch storage unit company, commissioned our engineering department to design a facility in Hoogvliet, near Rotterdam, with 153 commercial storage units. Because of our early involvement in the design process, we were able to go beyond merely providing an architectural vision for the project. We worked closely with Uparq to understand its entire business process, enabling us to truly help shape the project and develop a design perfectly aligned with the client’s needs.

Solar frame pilot to directly supply building sites with green electricity

We recently took another step in our transition towards emission-free building sites by initiating a pilot at our location in Vlissingen. A site hut has been fitted with a specially designed robust frame containing solar panels. Supplied by Custom Containers, the solar frame is already converting the sun’s energy into electricity.

Construction started at Brinktoren

On Thursday, March 23, the official start of the construction works for Brinktoren, a 90-meter high tower in Overhoeks, Amsterdam, was celebrated. For the occasion, the construction site was turned into a beach tent, where the future owners, the alderman, and the construction team unveiled portraits that will soon be hidden forever.

Construction of Maersk cross-dock officially underway

To mark the official start of construction work on Maersk’s new business premises, the first column was recently placed in the ground at Maasvlakte 2. The groundbreaking ceremony was led by Marijn Visser (head of Retail, Lifestyle and Technology at AP Moller-Maersk), Carlos Velez Rodriquez (NEC area product manager, A.P. Moller-Maersk) and Albrecht meeusen (NEC area director, Hamburg Süd) in the presence of representatives from the Port of Rotterdam, APMT, Cordeel and colleagues. A Danish multinational, Maersk is a family-owned listed transport company offering door-to-door logistics and was the world’s largest shipping line until 2022.

Construction of 'The Ensemble' in Amsterdam gets underway

On Karspeldreef, located in the new Amstel III urban district, Cordeel has started construction work on 'The Ensemble', a complex consisting of 592 rental homes, 20,000 m² of offices and underground parking for 2,350 bicycles, 120 scooters and 239 cars. In addition, a health centre and talent house for young people as well as some commercial spaces will house there.

Cordeel Family Day 2022: Spotting wild animals in Rotterdam!

The staff of Cordeel Nederland and their partners, children and grandchildren had a wonderful time during the annual Cordeel Family Day, held this year at Blijdorp Rotterdam Zoo. Everyone gained a glimpse into some of the zoo’s most impressive areas thanks to scavenger hunt booklets, the Zoo Escape Game and behind-the-scenes tours.

Foundation for Clubhouse Boompjes now complete!

After spending 42 hours pouring 3,650 cubic metres of concrete for two footings, the foundation for Clubhouse Boompjes is now complete. Constructing concrete slabs capable of supporting two high-rise residential towers (70 metres and 100 metres) was a massive job – taking into account all the technical preparations and logistical challenges.

Complete switch to renewable diesel (HVO100) at all Cordeel Nederland construction sites to result in 89% cut in carbon emissions (and more)

At Cordeel Nederland, we are taking an important step towards realising our mission of building a passionate CO2-free future. We are now committing to exclusively using HVO100, a renewable diesel fuel, to power our equipment and generators at construction sites. This transition will reduce our carbon emissions by 89% compared to using fossil diesel, which translates to a reduction of 280 tonnes – a quarter of a million kilograms of CO2 – every year! Although renewable fuel might be costlier than fossil diesel, we believe the potential game-changing impact will be more than worth it.

Challenge accepted! Girls’ Day 2022 encourages young women to consider a career in construction

During Girls' Day 2022, young women gained unique, behind-the-scenes insight into hundreds of science, IT and technical companies across the Netherlands. As part of the initiative, Cordeel Nederland jumped at the opportunity to welcome 67 girls from Walburg College in Zwijndrecht to its headquarters.

A one-stop building partner, C-construct is the construction division of the Cordeel Group family business. This division includes Cordeel Nederland and Baeck Cladding. Our in-house facilities guarantee high quality and a streamlined production and construction process. Celebrations in order as Hotel & Residence De Schelde is topped out!

We recently celebrated topping out Hotel & Residence De Schelde in Cadzand by flying our flags and enjoying some refreshments. The building comprises 51 hotel rooms and 33 owner-occupied apartments (all sold) with underground parking. In the presence of the Verbeke family, owners of the hotel, Erik De Bruijn (CEO of Cordeel Nederland) took the opportunity to thank all the construction staff on site for their work.

Many jubilant returns were had by all present at Cordeel Nederland's recent anniversary and retirement party in Dordrecht. The spotlight focused on 13 employees from both 2020 and 2021 as last year's festivities were sadly cancelled due to the ongoing COVID circumstances.

On Thursday, 9 September 2021, ground was ceremoniously broken on a new fully automated high-bay warehouse in Terneuzen. Among the dignitaries present were Alderman Jack Begijn, Jeroen Rijnhout, general manager at Elopak Nederland, and Robert Rijnberg of A.C. Rijnberg Transport.

First concrete placement for Point of View apartments

Construction is now underway on the Point of View residential complex. Immediately adjacent to City Plaza shopping centre in the heart of Nieuwegein and commissioned by Blauwhoed, this project will be realised in one of the city’s finest locations. The first concrete was recently poured, marking the end of the groundworks.

The prefabricated walls from our factory have been delivered to the Hotel & Residence De Schelde project in Cadzand. The first floors of the nine-storey tower have been built and the floors of the adjacent section are being constructed in parallel.

Bleizo Logistics Centre – set to become Bleiswijk’s striking eyecatcher

Commissioned by Impact Vastgoed on behalf of owner Mirastar, Cordeel Nederland is currently building the new Bleizo Logistics Centre at Bleizo Business Park in Bleiswijk. The distribution centre (49,000 m²) will have a bold appearance with a pearly-white strip – a prominent focal point – running the entire length of the dark façade. The wall cladding is now being finished along with the first office space and the floor of Hall A. This state-of-the-art eyecatcher will soon be fully visible to commuters and passing traffic.

Cordeel is building Point of View, a modern and affordable housing concept next to City Plaza shopping centre in Nieuwegein. A genuine eye-catcher, this residential tower will house 48 owner-occupied apartments and an underground car park. Each apartment will have a spacious loggia, terrace or balcony with a view.

Name of new Hellevoetsluis child centre revealed

On Wednesday, 15 July, Councillor Hans van der Velde of the Municipality of Hellevoetsluis officially revealed the name of the new child centre that is being built in the city. The unveiling ceremony was attended by the location managers of RKBS Hendrik Boogaard, OBS Montessori School Hellevoetsluis and CBS De Bronn school communities. Representatives of De Kinderkoepel childcare centre, architect De Zwarte Hond and Cordeel Nederland were also in attendance.

Groundbreaking ceremony for new Bleizo distribution centre

Thursday, 9 July saw the groundbreaking ceremony for the new Bleizo distribution centre in Bleiswijk. In the presence of representatives of Impact Vastgoed, Mirastar, KKR and Cordeel Nederland, councillors Jan Iedema of the Municipality of Zoetermeer and Kathy Arends of the Municipality of Lansingerland performed the official act. Bleizo Logistics Centre will be operational in Q2 of 2021.

The new-build Vinkenplein residential complex in the centre of Bilthoven has reached the final phase. Construction of the restaurant and café pavilion opposite the main building is progressing steadily. This unique eye-catcher on Vinkenplein is slowly but surely taking shape.

Transhipment warehouse transformed into creative hub

In 2015, we converted part of the Keilepand, a 14,000 m2 transhipment warehouse in Rotterdam, into office space for GROUP A architects. We are now transforming the remaining part of these premises, located in the Merwe-Vierhavens area (M4H), into a fully-fledged atelier with inspiring working spaces for the creative industries.

Cordeel to construct two residential towers at Boompjes, Rotterdam

Amvest Residential Core Fund (ARC Fund) has commissioned Cordeel Nederland to work on the turnkey construction of two residential towers at Boompjes in Rotterdam. The tower blocks will reach 70 and 100 metres in height and comprise 342 non-subsidised rental apartments – including co-living and starter homes – plus a commercial plinth and an innovative mobility solution.

Child centre agreement signed in Hellevoetsluis!

This afternoon, Councillor Hans van der Velde of the Municipality of Hellevoetsluis and Erik De Bruyn, CEO of Cordeel Netherlands, confirmed their continued cooperation by signing a contract for the construction of a new child centre on Amnesty Internationallaan in Hellevoetsluis. The facility will stand next to the sports complex currently being built by Cordeel. The signing took place in the presence of members of the council, civil servants, advisors, board members of the primary schools to be established at the location and the building team.

Hellevoetsluis mega sports complex takes shape

The Hellevoetsluis sports complex on Amnesty Internationallaan is now taking shape. By mid-2020, we will have delivered a multifunctional sports centre finished to the highest standards. This new social hotspot in Hellevoetsluis will include a gym, three swimming pools, a large sports hall with grandstand, locker rooms, a restaurant and offices.

In 2017, we took the plunge and started our own development project, Parq Residence, in collaboration with APF International. ‘Johanna House’ in Wassenaar (Schouwweg), a former nursing home, is being converted into 35 luxury apartments.

Outline of superyacht hall clearly visible

Demolition work on Oceanco’s old shipbuilding hall has been taking place over the past few months. The roof and façade cladding as well as the existing truss structure were removed and new foundations have since been laid. The steel structure of the technical area has been erected and the first trusses on top of the building have now been installed. Installing the new truss structure on the roof will allow for maximum use of the clear height. It also means the superyacht hall has now reached its highest point.

Come and take a peek behind the scenes at our Vinkenplein construction project in Bilthoven on Saturday, 15 June. An annual event held throughout the Netherlands, Construction Day (Dag van de Bouw) offers the public the chance to visit building sites and see construction work in action. The Vinkenplein project will be freely accessible from 10.00 am to 4.00 pm. This will bea unique opportunity to see the project up close and get to know the people behind it.

Opening of Royal van Lent Shipyard

The Royal van Lent shipyard in Amsterdam was officially opened today by Her Majesty Queen Máxima. The new covered dry dock (4,500 m2) will allow for the construction of superyachts of up to 160 metres in length. Cordeel was responsible for several building disciplines. In the tender phase, we set ourselves apart by optimising the design, which led to a significant reduction in construction costs.

Prime Minister Mark Rutte opens Dow headquarters

Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte and Dow CEO Jim Fitterling officially opened Dow's new office in Terneuzen on Wednesday, 24 April. Cordeel built this 16,000 m² office building in Terneuzen's Maintenance Value Park as a design and build contract.

Cordeel once again participating in Girlsday

Today, some 27 girls from Walburg College paid a visit to our head office in Zwijndrecht. It marked Cordeel’s participation in Girlsday, a VHTO initiative aimed at stimulating and increasing girls’ interest in STEM careers, including those in the construction industry, from an early age.

The Swinpoort project on the Van Leeuwen Buizen site is now underway. The first pile of the new logistics facility was sunk into the ground on 27 March 2019. The centre will include a reception area, changing rooms, showers and a canteen.

Cordeel is currently working on putting the finishing touches to the new Dow Chemical headquarters. At the end of March, a group of primary school students from the Ds. D.L. Aangeenbrugschool visited the project in Terneuzen.

Sandwich panel walls with brick veneer from our own factory

For the Vinkenplein project in Bilthoven, Cordeel is using prefabricated sandwich panel walls with brick veneer for several facades. These walls are to be produced in our own factory and will be delivered to the building site ready for use. The Vinkenplein project comprises 30 apartments, six commercial spaces and an indoor car park.

E.B.S. in gebruik

Huge new E.B.S. bulk warehouse now in use

Cordeel has recently completed its third project for European Bulk Services (EBS) to the great satisfaction of all parties involved. Parts of the new building were already in use at the end of 2018 and now, just a few weeks later, the entire building (126,000 m3) is operational.
