Celebrating knowledge and experience at Cordeel’s jubilee event

At our recent jubilee event at Het Hooihuis in Roosendaal, a select group of Cordeel Nederland employees took the limelight. We raised our glasses to five people with 12.5 years’ service under their belt, two who have been with us for 25 years and 35 years, respectively, and one who has been here for 40 years. We also said farewell to two employees who are retiring this year after long and successful careers. As is customary during this annual get-together, we thanked all jubilarians — in the presence of colleagues, new recruits and retirees — for their much-valued commitment over the years. During the event, Erik De Bruyn, CEO Cordeel Nederland, said, “Without you, we would not be where we are today with the company. A big thank you for that.”

For many years, Cordeel has pursued an active and sustainable employability policy, ensuring that employees go to work healthy, fit and happy until retirement. The company supports proper work–life balance, good health and vitality and the development of professional knowledge and skills while nurturing motivation and commitment. Making sure that employees’ families are also looked after is integral to this approach.

The annual jubilee event celebrates employees’ loyalty. Our staff consistently demonstrate their commitment to Cordeel, an invaluable asset in these times of acute labour shortages. Their allegiance allows us to retain precious knowledge and experience, which, in turn, ensures continuity with our clients, who value the importance of long-term relationships.

Erik added, “As our company continues to grow and evolve, I would like to wish our newcomers every success. At Cordeel Nederland, you will be part of a close-knit team in which young talent and indispensable experience come together in a harmonious blend. We cherish this sense of connectedness and strive to continue to grow and prosper as an organisation.”

Final construction phase of huge Maersk cold store facility

The construction of the huge cold store facility for Danish shipping giant Maersk on Maasvlakte 2 is progressing steadily. This design-and-build project involved drafting the final design and developing it into a technical and implementation plan. Construction will soon enter its final phase.

Cordeel summer barbecue 2024

Last Thursday was a beautiful day for our annual summer barbeque at our familiar spot, Beachclub Perry's at Brouwersdam. As we came together, we reflected on the past six months, listening to a speech by our CEO, Erik De Bruyn. He remarked, “It is nice to see how we come together as one team — not only to celebrate our successes but also to relax and enjoy each other's company before the summer holidays begin."

The staff of @cordeelnederland and their partners, children and grandchildren had a great time during the annual Cordeel Family Day, held this year on Saturday, 22 June. The event was hosted by Klok'uus, a venue that provided the perfect setting for fun and adventure for young and old alike.

At Cordeel, we make a distinction between different types of carbon emissions. There are our own emissions, such as diesel and petrol used on our construction sites and for our vehicle fleet, as well as our direct consumption of electricity and gas as a business. These are areas where we, as a company, can directly and relatively easily make changes and have an impact. However, we must also consider the emissions in our value chain, including the products we use and their effect on the climate.

Thursday, 23 May saw the topping-out of the Schelde Exotech production hall expansion and new cleanroom construction in the Vlissingen-Oost port area. The customary flag-raising ceremony and a joint lunch were held to commemorate the festive occasion.

Cordeel building on Quooker’s vision for the future in Rotterdam region

On 13 May 2024, we celebrated the start of construction of a 30-metre-tall, sustainable high-ceiling warehouse for Quooker, the Dutch firm renowned for ‘the tap that does it all'. The company is experiencing strong growth, and the brand-new warehouse marks the start of the first phase of an ambitious project that will bring together all operating units on one site: factory halls, storage space, offices, service centre and showroom.

Cordeel anticipates further growth for Schelde Exotech

The breaking ground ceremony for the Schelde Exotech expansion project took place today and was attended by Brisck’s Marijn Snellen (deputy director) and Isabelle Lips (commercial property manager) and the Cordeel project team. Jos Mols, the CEO of Schelde Exotech, officially broke ground on a development that will involve expanding the production hall and constructing a new cleanroom. Delivery will take place two years after the successful completion of Schelde Exotech’s new business premises (5,500 m2) in 2022.

Deep foundations, lofty ambitions: Cordeel acts as both developer and contractor for the C-Sight project

The C-Sight residential project is being built by the wide sandy beach at Cadzand. During the past few weeks, we have been drilling the foundation piles (201 in total), and more than half have already been successfully drilled to a depth of 24 metres.
