History

Our roots lie in Sint-Niklaas, Belgium, where Ghislain Cordeel started his carpentry business in 1934. We have since grown to become a European player with over 1,600 employees but are still a fully independent, family-owned company with the Cordeel family at the helm.

  1. 1934

    Founding of Cordeel

    19-year-old Ghislain Cordeel founds his carpentry business in Sint-Niklaas (Belgium). It marks the beginning of the Cordeel Group’s rich history.

  2. 1979

    The next generation

    Ghislain Cordeel transfers leadership of the company to his sons Dirk and Marc Cordeel.

  3. 1970 - 1990

    Expansion outside Belgium

    Strong expansion of the Cordeel Group. The company goes international and now also serves clients outside of Belgium.

  4. 1985

    Cordeel in the Netherlands

    First assignment in the Netherlands for Pakhoed (now Vopak).

  5. 1999 - 2003

    Further growth in the Netherlands

    Cordeel takes over Mabuwat. This gives the company a base in Zwijndrecht and Vlissingen. In 2003, the full integration of Mabuwat within the group is achieved and, in the Netherlands, Cordeel continues under the name Cordeel Nederland B.V

  6. 2009

    Design and Build

    Cordeel Nederland builds the new headquarters for BP at Europoort in Rotterdam, the company's first design and build project.

  7. 2011

    Construction of new Zwijndrecht office

    With the construction of a new, sustainable office with workshop in Zwijndrecht, Cordeel is ready for the future.

  8. 2012

    Real estate service department established

    The real estate service department is established to organise plan-based maintenance, ad hoc maintenance work and small renovations.

  9. 2014

    First private development

    Opening of the 3M office in Delft. This is the first project that Cordeel Nederland has developed on its own account.

  10. 2015

    New office in Vlissingen

    Cordeel opens a new office in Vlissingen.

  11. 2008 - 2016

    Cordeel continues to grow

    Cordeel continues to grow during the crisis years and, thanks to a strong focus on long-term relationships, shows positive financial results every year.

  12. 2018

    New office in Terneuzen

    Cordeel opens a new branch in Terneuzen and reinforces its presence in the south-western Netherlands.

  13. 2019

    New headquarters

    Cordeel opens its new headquarters in the former dry dock of the Boelwerf shipyard in Temse, Belgium.

  14. 2021

    Building in Amsterdam

    The projects in Amsterdam are realized under the flag Cordeel Temse – Cordeel Nederland VOF. Cordeel Nederland has a limited and supporting role in the management of Cordeel Temse (BE).

  15. 2022

    Full integration Cordeel Geelen

    In 2013, Cordeel takes a participation in Geelen Vastgoed & Bouw in Neer, near Roermond. A real family business founded in 1893. In 2017 Cordeel becomes the full owner and in 2022 the name and logo have also been changed.
