Accelerated construction in Cadzand with prefab walls from our own factory

The prefabricated walls from our factory have been delivered to the Hotel & Residence De Schelde project in Cadzand. The first floors of the nine-storey tower have been built and the floors of the adjacent section are being constructed in parallel.

Various systems have been used for the structure of the building. The foundation sits on piles, while the concrete basement floors and walls are all cast in-situ. The remaining structural elements consist of prefabricated components which are, for the most part, delivered ready to use. Our factory in Temse (BE) supplies the different types of precast concrete walls.

Building with prefabricated elements means a major part of production takes place in advance at our climate-controlled plant, which ensures a high-quality product, fewer onsite activities and faster construction. The walls of the tower, for example, are prefabricated as sandwich elements comprising an inner wall with insulation and a finished outer wall.

This project represents a major logistical challenge due to the site’s compact nature and there being room for just one tower crane. The supply and delivery of the prefabricated elements and building materials have also called for meticulous planning. We are successfully meeting these challenges, not least by optimising our strategy for just-in-time deliveries.
