Cordeel Group launches its 2022 sustainability report

On Thursday, March 23, the official start of the construction works for Brinktoren, a 90-meter high tower in Overhoeks, Amsterdam, was celebrated. For the occasion, the construction site was turned into a beach tent, where the future owners, the alderman, and the construction team unveiled portraits that will soon be hidden forever.

To mark the official start of construction work on Maersk’s new business premises, the first column was recently placed in the ground at Maasvlakte 2. The groundbreaking ceremony was led by Marijn Visser (head of Retail, Lifestyle and Technology at AP Moller-Maersk), Carlos Velez Rodriquez (NEC area product manager, A.P. Moller-Maersk) and Albrecht meeusen (NEC area director, Hamburg Süd) in the presence of representatives from the Port of Rotterdam, APMT, Cordeel and colleagues. A Danish multinational, Maersk is a family-owned listed transport company offering door-to-door logistics and was the world’s largest shipping line until 2022.

On Karspeldreef, located in the new Amstel III urban district, Cordeel has started construction work on 'The Ensemble', a complex consisting of 592 rental homes, 20,000 m² of offices and underground parking for 2,350 bicycles, 120 scooters and 239 cars. In addition, a health centre and talent house for young people as well as some commercial spaces will house there.

The staff of Cordeel Nederland and their partners, children and grandchildren had a wonderful time during the annual Cordeel Family Day, held this year at Blijdorp Rotterdam Zoo. Everyone gained a glimpse into some of the zoo’s most impressive areas thanks to scavenger hunt booklets, the Zoo Escape Game and behind-the-scenes tours.

After spending 42 hours pouring 3,650 cubic metres of concrete for two footings, the foundation for Clubhouse Boompjes is now complete. Constructing concrete slabs capable of supporting two high-rise residential towers (70 metres and 100 metres) was a massive job – taking into account all the technical preparations and logistical challenges.

At Cordeel Nederland, we are taking an important step towards realising our mission of building a passionate CO2-free future. We are now committing to exclusively using HVO100, a renewable diesel fuel, to power our equipment and generators at construction sites. This transition will reduce our carbon emissions by 89% compared to using fossil diesel, which translates to a reduction of 280 tonnes – a quarter of a million kilograms of CO2 – every year! Although renewable fuel might be costlier than fossil diesel, we believe the potential game-changing impact will be more than worth it.

During Girls' Day 2022, young women gained unique, behind-the-scenes insight into hundreds of science, IT and technical companies across the Netherlands. As part of the initiative, Cordeel Nederland jumped at the opportunity to welcome 67 girls from Walburg College in Zwijndrecht to its headquarters.
