Quooker’s new distribution centre combines smart logistics, sustainability and space efficiency

Together with Quooker and our construction partners, we recently celebrated the official opening of the new Quooker distribution centre (QDC). The building has a usable floor area of approximately 20,000 m² and has been operational since May. It marks the first step towards a future-proof, scalable logistics operation that will support Quooker’s growth for decades.

Designing the distribution centre with Quooker and Group A Architects was a team effort from day one. By pooling expertise early in the process, we created an integrated design that balances sustainability, quality, feasibility and affordability. That close collaboration guided decisions at every stage and delivered a future-proof facility with a demonstrably lower carbon footprint—all without compromising functionality, quality or affordability.

The centre stands out for its compact layout and high level of automation. By cleverly combining functions and using the available height efficiently, we achieved a large storage capacity on a relatively small footprint. This provides Quooker with a logistics environment that is ready for further growth.

Sustainability was embedded in both the facility’s design technologies and the development process itself. The compact layout, energy-efficient systems, high-quality insulation and sustainable materials help reduce energy consumption and CO₂ emissions. Because Quooker managed the development directly, we were also able to invest in energy-saving measures with a longer cost-recovery period. The site includes a rainwater harvesting system, and the area around the building was designed with biodiversity and green landscaping in mind.

The commissioning of the new QDC is the first phase of a broader plan. In time, production, logistics, offices and the showroom will be consolidated on one site, creating an integrated working environment with shorter communication lines, more efficient processes and greater flexibility across the entire supply chain.

Cordeel-Van der Straaten consortium completes new quay for Damen Yachting

The Cordeel-Van der Straaten consortium recently delivered a 120-metre-long quay for Damen Yachting. The approximately 6,000 m² quayside area includes a modern workshop for storing superyacht components. Starting from the preliminary design (PD) stage, we developed the project through to implementation design (ID) and were also responsible for its full construction and delivery.

Expansion of APM Terminals’ sustainable container terminal

We have reached an important milestone with APM Terminals Maasvlakte II and AECOM. Together, we have signed a joint venture agreement for the expansion of one of Europe’s most advanced container terminals. The on-site ceremony marked the official launch of an integrated construction project focused on increasing capacity, improving operational efficiency and developing a fully emission-free terminal. The first phase is scheduled for completion in early March 2026.
